Bookchigo Bookstore is the largest bookstore in Cebu. They sell mostly secondhand books but it's still in great condition, it is Php200 per kilo. They have books for children, chapter and teen section, and more. They also have a café inside the bookstore, where you can take a sip of coffee and French crepes and enjoy while reading your favorite(s) books.

ORIGIN AND HISTORY

During the pandemic, Bookchigo started as an online business through live selling, where customers could pick and choose from the titles shown during the live streams. They also offered the books by weight service at the time, but the books were chosen by the owners. The standard price is Php200 per kilo, but there is a minimum weight requirement of three kilos.

There are several Bookchigo branches in the Philippines, and the Cebu branch recently opened in 2024. Bookchigo is divided into two areas: the retail store and the warehouse. The warehouse is where customers can avail the books-per-kilo service, while the retail store is where you can buy books individually.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

I still remember that I visit Bookchigo when I was a Grade 12. I vividly remember the smell of books and ink, and the feel of flipping through every pages. Bookchigo was my sanctuary, one of a place where I could escape the stress of life, exams and deadlines. Even now, I look back on those moments, grateful for the memories and the lessons learned between the pages of the books I discovered there.

Its almost a year since my last visit in Bookchigo, I hope I could visit there again.
